Belated Merry Christmas DJ Fans :)
Had a quiet one - Xmas Eve and Xmas Night off.
Up to my mums for dinner on Xmas Day and over to my brothers for Boxing Day then the Basebowl on Boxing night which was not as busy as Id hoped but busier than Id have thought for a holiday.
Non Such last night - which was a return to an old haunt. As it was an old firm match Id expected it to be busy and wasnt disappointed. No hassle all night which was a good ending to a weekend.
Hogmany approaches - bring on the parties!

Had to add this ...
Time for some self publicised advertising :)
Have added a links section the right hand side - if you think your site is worthy of inclusion then let me know.
Also noted is Blogs I read. On the list is Soulful Scotsman - a very worthy read from a friend who escaped Ayrshires clutches and moved to somewhere worse - Englandshire! lol
When I asked him on MSN what he liked about my blog his reply was "just the way its delivered, its easy to read and very easy to picture the stuff you're writing about...almost makes me want to come back and experience it again"
Seriously mate - id swap places with you in an instant lol

Rules For DJ`ing
Just had to include this from my Bebo page a while back, as many other DJ`s will probably read this at some point.
Rules For DJ`ing
1. I will play your request if and when I see fit. I will not play it NEXT!
2. It's too early to play Dancing In The Fucking Dark, you wouldn't phone up the BBC at 2.30 pm and ask 'Can you show tonight's EastEnders now please?'
3. No you cant look through my CD's, I'm a DJ not a fucking jukebox!
4. If the music's so crap, how come the dancefloor is full and you're the only one complaining?
5. No, I cant play the CD you've got in the car.
6. When I play your request, dont run up waving your arms shouting that it wasn't the one you asked for, it is! It may not have been what you meant, but it is the one you asked for.
7. It was on 10 minutes ago, I'm not playing it again. I dont care if you are just in the door, you should have been here earlier.
8. I'm not playing it next because you are about to leave. If it means that much to you, you'll happily stay a bit longer. You're probably lying anyway.
9. No, the boss did not say I was to play it, you liar!
10. No I'm not giving your gang a mention on the mic!
11. If I agree to play your request, dont come up again 5 minutes later and look at me like I've just shat on your living room carpet because you haven't heard it yet.
12. If I play your request pretty quickly, it is not a licence to come up and ask for a new request every 5 minutes.
13. You are pissed and annoying the hell out of me, go away!
14. It's not a karaoke night, and no you cant sing along with the mic anyway.
15. I dont care how gorgeous or important you think you are, you'll wait for your request like everyone else.
16. No I dont love you.
17. No I wont turn it down, you're the one who chose to sit right underneath a speaker!
18. No you cant have a shot DJing, and no you cant MC over the mic.
19. The music's not shite, you just don't like it. There's a difference! And dont think for one second you're speaking on behalf of the entire crowd, you're not! See no.13.
20. It's closing time, the night's over so no I will not play 'just one more'! I've done my night's work and now I want to go home and drink vodka! See no.13.

Don`t Believe All You Hear
Well well well .....
There was me heading to Dalry to the Turf Inn for a "party" as the boss had put it. No idea what I was doing.
Turned out it was a surprise 60th, which should, on paper, be boring.
Was quite busy considering the time of year, although the girl organising it did tell me that it would probably finish early, as a lot of the guests had travelled a distance to get there and conversely had to travel a distance back again.
Excellent party, loads of dancing, good laughs etc. Finished at 1130 so was good all round. But the best surprise was the nice wee function suite which is through the back in the pub. Looks quite rough and grotty from the outdoors, but as proved before, looks can be deceiving.
Not long till Santa now lol

The Week So Far ....
The week so far has been a busy one.
Tuesday afternoon - karaoke in a school which was having a kind of X factor thing at the end of the year. Much hilarity ensued, with the head master doing an amazing impression of Mick Jagger, lips and all :)
Last night - school disco again in Renfrew. Always a good laugh in this place and last night was no exception. Its quite weird doing a disco where they stop for social dancing and the kids actually enjoy doing it and encourage it. Most of the time social dancing is met with "boo" and "get the DJ back on".
Tonight - Clachan in Largs. My old local. Very quiet night, but was still fun all the same. I see that the bar maids have improved since the last time I was in the pub lol (Hi Zoe).
Tomorrow night I am deepest darkest Dalry. It was nice knowing you :)

Dance Floor
Hi there again
Following on from a conversation that I had with someone at the weekend ....
Many of you reader folk out there may know that I have a hatred of people who drink on the dance floor. Yes, I can understand the whole argument about not leaving your drink unattended in case someone spikes it, but do the ladies leave their handbags lying on seats unattended? Course they do!
When I ask folk not to drink on the dance floor, I am not doing it through spite. Nightclubs dont let you do it, and here`s a few reasons I have come up with and seen.
1) You get bumped while dancing and spill your drink. It either lands on your nice sparkly top you bought for the evening, or lands on the floor making the dance floor a paddling pool.
2) Guys who are drunk and get their pint spilled switch from having a laugh to having a fight very quickly.
3) Assume you drop the glass and it breaks, at the start of the night. Its never really all swept away - just as much as they can see in the dark. Later on, when drunk, females remove shoes and dance. I`m sure you can think the rest through.
4) Packed dance floor - girl takes drink from bottle of Bacardi Breezer etc. At that moment, she is nudged and either swallows more of the bottle than she wants, or it breaks up in her mouth and carange ensues
5) End of night - Loch Lomond on. Crowd go mental, alcohol goes everywhere. See Number 2 on the list for the outcome.
6) You cant dance with a female properly with one hand can you :)
7) You look a tosser bouncing around to the music with your pint dribbing all over your arm.
8) Your top cost more than a drink. Dont ruin it
9) Lots of DJ`s who work in pubs now work close to the dance floor. Last thing we need is some drunk person coming up and spilling alcohol all over our equipment, which usually costs a lot of money.
I could go on and on with loads of reasons. Maybe in the cold light of soberness, people may read this and realise that stewards who tell you no drinking arent doint it for kicks - its to save them from hauling you out a fight.

Saturday night ,,,,,,
......I feel the air is getting hot, Like you baby....
Err ok no Whigfield here thanks :)
The party night in the Cotton Mill was excellent. Good atmosphere with a great crowd. Hopefully be back in there for more parties later on, as well as maybe Hogmany - just see where I am put by the boss.
Spent Sunday doing not a lot. Scott and I ended up out and about - Bar One was its usually busy self - ohh must have been at least enough to fill a taxi in it tonight! Party night in the Hydro was better, all be it cheesy music (sorry Tommy lol). He does dance well to the Time Warp mind you :)

Busy - For Once
Was in Morgans last night. Its hit and miss in there - some nights its mobbed others its empty.
Last night was one of the mobbed ones. Rochelle had a birthday (20 teen again) lol. Everybody knows her (that sounds so bad), so the pub was busy. Great night was had by all, except for the youngsters amongst the crowd who seem better at handling their cocks than their drink. Mind you, some of them did have difficulty in knowing which toilet was theirs lol.
It was all going well, till the fresh air hit them on leaving, as per usual. Then there was a mini riot outside. Scenes of Braveheart flashed through my head. :)
Oh well, roll on tonight - Cotton Mill Xmas Party Nights - should be good. Kids party 4 till 6 to do before that so that should be an experience.

Sleeeeeep
All I want is sleep :)
Got home from night out at 2:30am - completely stone cold sober as I knew I was going to be up at stupid o clock to go to Carnoustie.
So - its now 6:26am, I`m chatting to my brother on MSN (God alone knows why he`s awake this early!), and I am just heading out the door.
Wonder who I can phone this early, to wake up and annoy lol.
Roll on the weekend.

Thursday 4 - Saturday 6 December 2008
Busy weekend, starting early.
Thursday night was a Christmas party for a bunch of nurses from a nursing home. Good night - lots of dancing and general hilarity. It was my first Christmas party of the season, and if thats a benchmark to go by, the rest of the month should be fun.
Friday - Instead of Morgans I was in the basebowl. Attracted the attention of a nice girl (I thought), who showed me equal amounts of attraction if not more so - if the amount of kissing was anything to go by. I have learned however that females and alcohol are a wicked combination so I wasnt planning on writing out guest lists to an engagement party quite yet. All was looking well, as she got more and more flirty, which in any other circumstance I would have welcomed, but she was trying to keep me off my work, and I dont want any bad reports going back to the boss that I was just spending time with girls and not working. Because of this, I tried to play it down till after the gig, where I would be free to do what I want.
Didnt last long however as said female, fuelled by more alcohol decided I was not only the nicest in the pub, and the more drunk she got, the more she worked her way through the bar. Eventually, she left, and when I went outside at the end of the night, she was outside propositioning pure strangers in the kebab shop. Sad way to end the night. Must be great to not know where or who you are waking up with.
Kids party on Saturday afternoon - bumped into a girl I went to school with, who was there with her daughter. God I feel old now!! Was a good laugh, with very polite children which makes a change.
Saturday night was a staff party for an aerospace company in Ayr. Comedian, buffet, free bar and myself doing disco karaoke. Brilliant night was had by all. Comedian was amazingly funny and very very professional - Claude Bols. Well worth hiring for the night. His own website unfortunately wasnt working but Google his name and his agents site will come up.
Roll on next week. Staff night out on Thursday so that should prove interesting.

Here Goes
Welcome to the new Ayrshire DJ site.
Hopefully the idea goes like this. After every gig / weekend I shall update this blog with the latest happenings from my life.
Hmm - we shall see how long it takes to stay current before its forgotten about :)
