Merry err Boxing Day :)

Merry Christmas to you all - hope Santa was good to you.

My holidys started with chaos as per usual. Fan belt broke on car at 2:30pm on Xmas Eve. Obviously nowhere open now till after holiday so that was me stuffed. RAC had a 20 minute call queue before I even got to talk to someone to get them to come out, so that became not an option either.

So after many frantic calls and things, a hire car was sourced, and its a wee belter. 08 plate Renault Clio, 26K on clock and drives like new. Will be sad to let it go back on Monday, might actually keep it an extra day to sort things out.

Gigs wise yeah its good fun. Cecchinis in Ardrossan on Xmas Eve (and again tonight), which is always a great laugh. Wedding on Sunday in Fenwick - all day affair, so that should be drawn out and bundles of laughter I`m sure.

Crimbo dinner was great - up at my brothers with my mum, my brother, his wife, her parents and her brother, oh and Bailey the dog :) Highly enjoyable time was had by all.

Might be the last post till 2010, although I start work at half nine anyway (ha ha).

Whoohoo - almost Xmas :)

Hi there

As I write this, I am checking my wee app on my iPhone - currently its:

6 Sleeps, or 133 hours, or 7990 minutes, or 479390 (approx) seconds to Xmas - whoohoo.

Parties are going well - last night I was in the Cotton Mill in Kilmarnock, a regular party haunt this time of year. Was a great night, and first time I have done a karaoke in there as well.

2 groups of people had turned up and had actually asked if I was the DJ, as they were there, which was nice. So a big hello to the Matalan crowd, and also to Sarah and her extended family. George and Rita, the dancefloor wizards, showing them all how to do it. Sarah had a nice blue top on that was all sparkly - could have plugged her in and used her as a disco light lol but yea a really good night.

Back in Cecchinis in Ayr tonight - last party night before Xmas so hopefully should be quite busy.

All the shopping is done, just one present to wrap, which I need to go and do soon.

Back to work on Monday, for 3 days, boo - why cant holidays start early lol. At least I will get my secret Santa present when I get in :)

Right, I`m off to wrap pressies and do some general tidying up.

Merry Christmas to all you readers, Happy New Year and all that cos this will probably be the last post of 2009 (although probably not).

Cecchinis

Hi

Been in Cecchini`s in Ardrossan now for a week or two on Saturday nights. Excellent night out, and a great atmosphere in the place.

http://www.cecchinis.com if you fancy a wee look

apart from that not a lot to say - except I am too busy playing with my new phone.

Was due for an upgrade, and as Orange have recently started selling iPhones, I decided to take the plunge, after playing with my brothers phone, and took one. Well made decision. Its a work of wonder. iTunes is now my friend, and on Windows 7 it actually runs really well.

Anyways - im away to see how indestructible this cover is I bought for the phone :)

Halloween

Back in Morgans last week - was good to see some friendly faces

Saturday night was the usual Halloween fun - football team in Kilmarnock

Quite entertaining watching Bananaman picking a fight with Scooby Doo, and having to be held back by Popeye, Tinkerbell and a ladybird.

works good - nice to have some money for a change :) Got some shopping done for Xmas and also got my new business cards sorted out so should get them soon in time for flinging at folk for xmas party season.

I Miss You So Much

Not a day doesnt go by that I wish you were still here
I am glad that we had more good days than bad days

So many songs go through my head that I can relate to you
yet this one always seems to revolve around and come back again

Maybe as it was one of the last songs I heard the day before your funeral

Maybe it was meant to be on the radio at that particular time - who knows

Missing you x

------------

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
Ill be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
Ill be watching you

Oh, cant you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
Ill be watching you

Since youve gone I been lost without a trace
I dream at night I can only see your face
I look around but its you I cant replace
I feel so cold and I long for your embrace
I keep crying baby, baby, please...

Oh, cant you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every breath you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
Ill be watching you

Every move you make
Every step you take
Ill be watching you

Ill be watching you
Ill be watching you
Ill be watching you
Ill be watching you...

All Change

Apologies for not updating since what seems like forever.

My dad died on Sept 1st, so as you can imagine, this has been quite far back in my priority list.

So much I want to write down and cant - might write a private posting just to empty my head of all its thoughts.

Work wise - I am doing very very well selling a new product at work - www.leisureforall.com - and selling it well - so much so that I bought myself a subscription.

DJ`ing is going well as well - getting back into the swing of it.

Will try to keep back more regular.

The Next Life

I want to live my next life backwards.

You start out dead and get that out of the way right off the bat. Then, you wake up in a nursing home and begin feeling better every day. When you are kicked out of the home for being too healthy, and you spend several years enjoying your retirement and collecting benefit checks.

When you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day. You work 40 years or so, getting younger every day until pretty soon you're too young to work. So then, you go to high school: play sports, date, drink, and party. As you get even younger, you become a kid again.

You go to elementary school, play, and have no responsibilities. In a few years, you become a baby and everyone runs themselves ragged keeping you happy.

You spend your last 9 months floating peacefully in luxury, spa-like conditions: central heating, room service on tap. Until finally...You finish off as an orgasm.

I rest my case!!!!!!!!!!

If yer Scoattish......

1. You consider scattered showers with outbreaks of sunshine as good weather.

2. The only sausage you like is square..

3. You have been forced to do Scottish country dancing every year at secondary school.

4. You have a wide vocabulary of Scottish words such as numpty, aye, aye right, auldjin, baltic...

5. You destroyed your teeth when you were young using Buchanan's toffee, Wham bars, Penny Dainties, MB Bars, Cola Cubes etc

6. You have an enormous feeling of dread whenever Scotland play a 'numpty' team like the Faroe Islands .

7. You happily engage in a conversation about the weather with someone you've never met before.

8. Even if you normally hate the Proclaimers, Runrig, Caledonia , Deacon Blue and Big Country, you still love it when you're in a club abroad and they play something Scottish.

9. You used to watch Glen Michael's Cavalcade on a Sunday afternoon with his side kick Lamp Paladin.

10. You got Oor Wullie and The Broons annuals at Xmas.

11. You can tell where another Scot is from by their accent - "Awright, pal, gonnae gies a wee swatch oa yur Sun ? Cheers, magic pal." Or "Fit ya bin up tae ? Fair few quines in the nicht, eh ?", etc

12. You see cops and hear someone shout 'Errapolis'.

13. You have participated in or watched people having a 'square go'.

14. You know that when someone asks you what school you went to they only want to know if you are catholic or protestant.

15. You have eaten lots and lots of random Scottish food like mince 'n tatties, Tunnock's Caramel Logs, oat cakes, haggis, Cullen skink, Lees Macaroon Bars, etc.

16. A jakey has asked you for money.

17. You think nothing of waiting expectantly for your 1p change from a shop keeper.

18. You know the right response to 'Ye dancing ?' is 'Y'askin?' followed by 'Ahm askin' and finally 'Then ahm dancin'.

19. Whenever you see sawdust it reminds you of pools of vomit as that's what the jannies used to chuck on it at school.

20. You lose all respect for a groom who doesn't wear a kilt.

21. You don't do shopping... you 'go the messages'.

22. You're sitting on the train or bus and a drunk man sits next to you telling you a joke - and asking 'Ahm no annoying ye ahm a?' and you respond 'Naw, not at a', yer fine. This is ma stoap, but'.

23. You can have an entire phone conversation using only the words 'awright', 'aye' and 'naw'.

24. You have experienced peer pressure to have an alcoholic drink when out - regardless of the circumstances.

25. You know that ye cannae fling yer pieces oot a 20 storey flat, and that seven hundred hungry weans'll testify tae that. Furthermore you're sure that if it's butter, cheese or jeely, or if the breid is plain or pan, the odds against it reaching earth are 99 tae wan.

26. You know that going to a party at a friend's house involves bringing your own drink.

27. Your holiday abroad is ruined if you hear there is a heatwave in Scotland while you're away.

28. Your national team goes 2-0 up again the Czechs in a qualifier in Prague and your mate says we'll end up losing 3-2 here and you think "Probably".

29. You can properly pronounce McConnochie, Ecclefechan, Milngavie, and Auchtermuchty.

30. Your favourite pizza is deep fried and battered from the chippy.

31. You're used to 4 seasons in one day.

32. You can't pass a chip shop or kebab shop, without drooling, when your drunk.

33. You can fall about drunk without spilling your drink.

34. You measure distance in minutes.

35. You can understand Rab C Nesbitt and know characters just like them in your own family.

36. You go to Saltcoats because you think it's like being at the ocean.

37. You can make a whole sentence out of just swear words.

38. You know what haggis is made with and still eat it.

39. Somebody you know used a football schedule to plan their wedding day date.

40. You've been at a wedding where the footie results were read out.

41. You aren't surprised to find curries, pizzas, kebabs, Irn Bru, nappies and fags all for sale in one shop.

42. Your seaside holiday home has Calor gas under it.

43. You know that Irn Bru is an infallible hangover cure.

44. You understand all the above and are going to send it to your pals.

45. and, finally, you are 100 per cent Scottish if you have ever used these terms - "How's it hingin'?", "clatty", "boggin", "cludgie", "dreich", "bampot", "bawheid", "bawbag" and "dubble nugget".

Cant Sleep! Argh!!

Its almost 2am - and I cant sleep, so thought I might as well update this blog for you.

Currently on holiday from work till September :) I had the 21st off anyway as Id worked the previous Saturday, and get the bank holiday off on the 31st, so thought I would just take the week in between off as well.

Caught up in all the wee jobs you mean to do but put off lol. Just got a few more DVDs to sort thru and thats me.

Gigs wise its been pretty good. 40th`s, Golden Weddings and a Memorial Service for someone. Yes you read it right. Ive always said I havent ever DJ`d a funeral, and this is as close as I think I will come.

Was a memorial / fund raiser for Heart Foundation - and a brilliant night it was too. I expected it to be at 1st full of black ties and handshakes and crying women, but it was not even close.

This weekend I was back in Morgans (not been there a while), and also in St Peters (Hi Micheal lol), doing a wedding. Some old friends popped in and took me by surprise and was really nice to see people from the past again and see how they are getting on.

So - plans for the rest of this week? Well - I am going into work tomorrow - yes - honestly. Only going in to get my payslip so wont be taking my headset in and tempted to sit down and sell lol.

Cars needing fixed as well - MOT due soon, so got some stuff to do for that as well.

This is becoming regular lol

Hi all

Sitting here on Sunday morning, done all my housework (almost), so thought I would post with last nights fun.

Was meant to be doing a 21st in Ardrossan Civic Centre, where they had specifically requested Old Skool music, and lots of it, and NO Runrig at the end - just bouncy tunes.

Initially when you hear this you instantly think there will be a riot at the place, especially if history of the venue is anything to go by. How wrong I was.

Got a phone call at about 6pm to tell me that the venue had changed, as the fuse box melted in the civic centre (not surprising it was built in about 1347!). So the new venue was hastily arranged as the Whitlees Community Centre, which holds about 20% of the capacity of the Civic Centre.

1st problem was all the guests had to be informed of the venue change, so frantic phone calls a plenty and hopefully everybody would turn up. Then came the 2nd problem. The drinks licence granted for the evening was only valid for the Civic Centre, which meant that the new venue would have no bar. So all the guests would have to be told it was a bring your own bottle night.

This was of course after the police stepped in and at first didnt want the party to go ahead, but they relented after an agonising 20 minute wait and the party was given the green light.

Thankfully most people got the messages, and turned up at the venue armed with alcohol. By about 9pm the place was packed and there was cans, bottles, cups and glasses everywhere - not one patch of table could be seen :)

As it was a warm night / lots of smokers - they kept the fire door open - bad idea. 15 minutes later the Environmental Health were at the door to inform them to cap the volume, so the door was now shut. This started the oven :) Lots of people dancing, drinking merrily, and overcrowed made the place very very warm very very quickly. And the harder I played, the more they danced.

A very very enjoyable night had by all, with next to no idiots spoiling the fun by fighting (that I could see). Lots of compliments at the end of the night by thoroughly knackered dancers :)

Oh, and I wasnt going the mention that one of my work colleagues was there, bucky bottle in hand, getting "mad wi it" :) No, nobody saw you fall on your arse either mate ;)

Tonight is a wedding in the Hydro, my 2nd DJ home I think. Irish crowd so should be a good laugh - they appreciate a good party.

2 updates in the same month - must be near Xmas :)

Its that time again - Happy August

Well - I got paid last friday, then it all disappeared again lol. I was rich for all of a few hours.

Added expenditure this month was taxing the car and the exhaust needs fixed. Next month is MOT as well, so I can see a few more days of overtime being done.

Work wise though things are doing well. I managed to hit bonus every week of the month which was good - and paid for the road tax at least lol. Also finished the month higher percentage than previously - ever - so thats a good sign.

On the down side, a lot of my team are no longer with me and were laid off. Maybe that was the motivation to get better sales.

Nothing else really to report - got 2 weeks holidays left to take so thinking of a wee week off to chill out. Shall see what happens.

Its errr ...... July lol

Before I start - a wee quote from my last post:

"Also getting to chat to loads of "famous" people. So far I have spoken to Micheal Jackson, Christopher Reeve, Ewan Macgregor, Kelly Clarkson, Diana Ross, Sam Brown, Mr Bean, but to name a few. :)"

2 down, the rest must be shitting themselves lol.

Yes - I will make comment about Mr Jackson. I didnt care much for his private and personal life, but there hasnt been, nor will there be, another artist who changes modern music as much. Love him or hate him, everybody can associate to one of his songs.

So - updates??? Errr, works good - I am now not in my probationary period any more, which is a bit more relaxing, but now I am just wanting to make my percentage better even moreso. Good weeks and bad weeks, and 3 times I have been the highest performer of the day, which is comforting.

Have to mention my friend and fellow workmate Gayle - who was my bodyguard last night as I was working in Greenock. Usually working there means I pre write my will, say goodbye to the family, and sort my affairs. How wrong I was last night. Was in a rugby club and the crowd were all well behaved and somewhere in between moderately well off and loaded :) Not to mention 80p for a can of coke, which is not bad considering the place was lovely. Still would have liked to have taken the TV off the wall though :)

Gayle, who self confesses to not liking chart music, spent all night singing along to the tunes I played, so least she had a good night. Also, surprisingly came up with some good requests, which was good. Always good to have somebody elses perspective of music to highlight songs you forget about.

Just a quick note however - dont buy the expensive "sparkler" birthday candles - they dont work, and even when they do, you cant blow them out - pointless.

will find some jokes and post them soon - to break up the tedium :)

be good

Remember Me???

I could start by apologising and not doing regular updates and give u some lame excuse but you have heard it all before lol.

Work is busy - loving it - and performimg well. Had my first monthly review and ended on a performance percentage of 91% which for my first month will keep me happy.

Making loads of new friends and getting paid to chat to folk and have a laugh - what could be better.

Also getting to chat to loads of "famous" people. So far I have spoken to Micheal Jackson, Christopher Reeve, Ewan Macgregor, Kelly Clarkson, Diana Ross, Sam Brown, Mr Bean, but to name a few. :)

Sitting at a gig right now as I write this post - currently playing: The Time Warp - gives me 5 minutes peace lol. Free wireless in halls should be made law lol

Oh well - ran out of things to say - when I get home I might remember and post some jokes.

Ciao

Back - again

how are you all

OK - yes I know the "weekly" updates are now more like either "fortnightly" or even "monthly".

Blame this new job lol - slave drivers so they are teehee (Im writing this cos I know my line manager will probably read it)

Actually no - its good - I am liking it - met loads of new folk and having a good laugh. It has its quiet days, but you break that up by having a laugh with the customers - which also in the good hand earns you sales so its all good.

On the DJ`ing front its been ok - few weddings, a 16th, a 30th, some 40ths - no kids parties mind you so the jelly and ice cream counts gone down a bit.

Payday next week, although I was getting it off but as I am going to Fife next month one night, I am working the day off so I can arrange it for next month.

Until payday I`m poorer than a church mouses provvi woman, but I will manage the last week I am sure - managed the month so far.

Anyways - bed time soon lol - up for work lol

Friday, 1 May 2009

oh my god has it been that long .....

OK OK OK Apologies lol

Ive had a lot of stuff happen lately so err where do I begin.

Gigs wise its been pretty stable actually - occasional wedding and stuff - nothing thats not out of the ordinary to report though.

Biggest news is that I changed jobs.

Was getting less and less work doing the AA inspections. Yes, I will miss driving about in sports cars, but its not all about that. Although in my last week or two I drove a Porsche Boxter, a supercharged Jaguar XKR, 2 Range Rover Sports, a few Mercs and BMW`s.

I am now working in Stellar - a call centre in Irvine. Some people might think thats a bit of a come down from what I was doing, but the overheads are nil, the stress factors even less, I dont have paperwork to do all night at home, and Im not driving about all over Scotland spending over 100 quid a week on fuel, lining Gordon Browns pockets.

Was a scary thing going from one job to the other, but have met a lot of new friends and have some major laughs along the way, and I am actually performing well so I am happy.

Got the 1st pay cheque today so we all went out to the karaoke to have a wee celebration - was good fun and will probably be the 1st of many nights out with them.

Soon the "Employee of the month" car parking space shall be mine - oh yes it shall :)

Monday, 6 April 2009

ooft update time eventually

Apologies - been manic lately and last week when I went to update I couldnt log in.

And well, err, I forgot to go back lol

So yeah 27th March was a kids party in Saltcoats then dash up to largs to do an hours worth of music for a mates 30th, filling in for the cabaret spot who was doing his party.

John, being a fellow DJ, always wants his parties to be something out of the box, and this was no different. The buffet was a burger bar, with over 200 burgers put out and basically every possible conceivable topping you would ever care to wish for. Whilst we were all feeding on them, John runs around and hands everybody a voucher for ice cream. So theres us thinking we all queue up at the kitchen and get a paper plate with a scoop of Farmfoods finest slapped down. Oh no - not John.

Open the back door to the hall and sitting outside is a fully working and stocked Ice Cream van. Hurrah! A very enjoyable night and good to bump into folk again from back in the day.

Saturday I was doin a kids party in Dalry in the afternoon, and was off at night. Was weird being off and as everybody else is working or boozing, I spent it in the house, catching up on TV and stuff.

Sunday was a wedding in the Hydro which was a great laugh. I thought it would be stuffy and boring, but they danced from start to finish and had lots of positive feedback so was a good night in my book :)

This weekend was me back in West Kilbride Golf Club for a Ruby Wedding, and a 60s night. Was an excellent night and gained me a few more bookings later in the year so its all good. Downside was that it was meant to be my night in Morgans and I had Fiona and a few other folk in for birthday celebrations and unfortunately as I was requested for the Golf Course I had to go there. I just hope Fi forgives me :)

Saturday night was a 30th - Disco / karaoke - a good night, and early finish at 1130 due to the new rules in the hall (everybody out by 12) so it suited me.

Got stuff on my mind which I wont bother you with yet until its clear in my own head. Till then - cya next week :)

Thursday, 26 March 2009

Credit Crunch? Not in Fairlie there isnt!

Hi di hi campers :)

So - Friday night was a break from the norm. instead of doing Morgans, I was sent to the Labour Club in Kilbirnie to do a 21st disco karaoke. The DJ who did Morgans instead doesnt like Karaoke, so I got sent instead.

Pretty OK night - nothing fantastic but wasnt crap. Biggest pain in the arse in there is the bar staff. Usually some bar staff can be difficult - stop at a certain time etc but thats expected.

In there they take "annoying" to a completely new level. I cant play it loud or they will come and switch me off. My lights DARE touch the bar area cos the slighest hint of a bright light on the bar will blind the bar staff, and woe betide you if any trace of brightness shines through into the main members bar as it will upset the karma through there as well.

I repeatedly asked the bar staff when we finish. 1am was the answer which I said OK - last orders at quarter too. Repeatedly I clarified this fact.

12:45 - Last orders, and I have done my timings so that I finished at 12:55. Playing Loch Lomond at the end and the woman behind the bar was going mental, trying to catch my eye with the "look at me pointing to my wrist" movement. Yes dear, I was well aware of the time, and yes, I WAS ignoring you.

That couldnt have been good enough though cos she stormed on to the stage, to which I told her that I would be finished before the time she herself had specified. She still wanted me to switch off the music right there, in the middle of Loch Lomond, to which I pointed out that if she dared, she would have a riot on her hands as the 30 or 40 people on the dance floor would be less than pleased.

Eventually I think she saw sense and left me alone.

Ive been doin it long enough dear, I know when to stop. I can tell the time - I learned it as a kid :)

Anyways - all was fine, Scott had come in early and been dropped off, so we packed up and walked out - right into a war zone. Minor scuffle outside turned into a 3 police van incident, in the middle of a very foggy evening.

Saturday.

Was a charity night in Fairlie village hall - always a good night in there. There was a crowd of folk who were doing acts, and the best act was by far and away the glamourous grannies singing "ye Cannae Shove Yer Grannie Off A Bus". It must surely get put on YouTube and when I get sent the link, or find it, I shall post it here.

Amazing night - excellent atmosphere and a tidy packet raised for Down Syndrome kids as well - nearly 5 grand I think.

Rewind in Morgans this week so who knows where I am going to be :) Another adventure I`m sure.

Cant Think What To Put Here

Minds gone blank lol

Anyways - Friday was Morgans night - quite quiet all things considered. Night passed without any major events, or kickings etc. I`m guessing that people are waiting till the football bloodbath that is the CIS Cup Final between the Old Firm this afternoon.

Saturday night was a combined 40th / Christening. and "Oh Christ" doesnt even come close to describing it.

It was the gig that almost didnt happen. My boss had delivered the stuff that afternoon, and I appeared about 8pm for an 8:30 start. Went to the reception desk and explained who I was and the girl there said "yes, your boss is just sitting waiting to bring the stuff in", which I thought was odd. He then pointed out my "boss" - another DJ company that originally was booked to do the gig but cancelled them as they couldnt do it so the customer phoned my boss.

Cue the obvious minute conversation "who should do the gig, you realise I should be getting paid for this madam even though Im not doing it" etc etc.

At the end up, I`d been booked, my equipment was in the hall, on the stage, so I win out.

Set up the stuff and was told to play background music, which I duly did. The crowd had been there since about 6 / 6:30 pm so I was hoping that they would be ready to party. And was hoping that, at 9pm, the tables on the dance floor would be getting taken away.

How wrong I was, as the buffet was wheeled out at this point, so by the time the buffet was finished and the tables removed it was nearing 10pm. As a lot of people had been there all night, they decided that their night was coming to an end, so about half of the crowd left over the next 30 minutes. I, of course, was still to play background music.

Eventually the man came up and wanted me to just switch on the party like turning on a light. I explained that at this current volume nobody will dance, which he understood and decided that the embargo on the volume could be lifted, but only slightly :|

So - with only about 20 folk left in the room, we had a party. Yes they danced, all be it badly :)

Strange night. I am away to hide in the Seamill Hydro tonight. One place that is pretty much football free.

Wahey!!!

Its official!!!!

I`m a part of Colin McArdle`s Wide Awake Club

ohhh I`m so lucky lol - I could crush a grape!

Oh wait hold on that was Crackerjack!

Eesh - I`m showing my age now - back to bed methinks!

Anyways - point of that was just to say Hi and mention Colin. It`s been done - you are now famous - no spandex required.

Thursday, 12 March 2009

Oh no is that the time .....

Just was thinking about where I am working this weekend, then realised I havent blogged from last week. Oops. Ive been busy this week lol.

Weekend consisted of two 18th parties, which usually means fighting or trouble of some sort.

First one was in Potters (Rewind was on in Morgans), which can be quite sporty at times when 18ths are on. Was quite a good night, and the only "fight" apparently was 2 guys fighting over the fruit machine lol.

Saturday night was in Littlestane Community Centre. Again, there was a wee scuffle outside by someone who was just being a daft wee boy. Was soon sorted and party went without a hitch, even though the girls spent most of the night asking me for cheesy tunes. Bucks Fizz, Toni Basil and Dexys Midnight Runners - you know its cheesy :)

Roll on next week. Should be back in Morgans this Friday

Fun Fun Fun In The Errrrr ..... SNOW!

Yes folks as I type this - its snowing outside - and - its lying (it told me it was rain actually lol) boom boom

Anyway - update time.

Friday was Morgans night. Unbelievable night - very busy again, and a very good atmosphere. The Rewind crowd were in and liked my music - always nice to be appreciated. If I am not working next Friday then I shall come in and see them. Nice to return the favour.

Saturday night was an interesting night. Was meant to be doing an engagement party in Johnny Ho`s, but was moved to a race night at the last minute. Starting at 9pm - so I thought.

Arrived at half 8, with them in the middle of race 1 - the first of 9 lol. So knew I was going to have a bit of a wait. Set up my stuff, and chatted to the guy running the race night. Was a nice guy, well polished at his act, and very organised. Needless to say, with 230 odd people there, it took a while to run the races and stuff and organise the tote etc, so I had longer to wait.
My first song was at 11:05 and I finished at 12:30 as arranged. Easy night, and as they were awaiting the music, everybody danced their ass off.

Good music - good crowd - great laugh - all weekend. :)

oops - time flies when ur err, doing bugger all :)

Hi there folks

OK before I start - Hello Libby :) There thats that done - proof positive I have fans on both sides of the Atlantic - leave a message or there will be biiiig trouble :)

So - Friday last week - Morgans - unusally it was pretty busy. Fiona (hi) had an Ann Summers party at her place, and half way through the night I got a text asking how busy the pub was. 30 minutes later and the place looked like a brothel (not that I`d know the internal workings of such a place). Mrs Summers must have made quite a lot that night due to the amount of rather interesting attire that was on show. Was a good night, no hassle, good crowd and highly enjoyable. Hopefully the pubs on the way back up.

Saturday was an 18th for a friend of mines girlfriend. It was in a village hall and was a bring your own bottle job - which usually spells disaster - avid readers will remember the post about the 60th birthday party ......

Anyways - my mate, Sean, well err, how can I put this .... he likes to party and last time I was out with him we found him slightly inebriated in a flowerbed face down lol.

But this night he was on his best behaviour - apart from mixing weird cocktails in the kitchen. Vodka, Pink Lemonade and Coke. Sounds vile - trust me - its amazing.

Another quality night, with no trouble which for an 18th is unheard of. OK some girl did redecorate the ladies toilets with the innards from her stomach, but girls will be girls lol.

Who knows what this weekend has in store.

Its all back to normal (sort of)

Well yeah ok its Tuesday and I am a few days late with the blog - sorry 2 all the fans who missed out (ok, fan - Hi Fiona :) lol).

Friday night was in the Market Inn way down in Ayr - a disco karaoke for a 30th. Great night, and a big shout to Louis, the (I think) 11 year old who was amazing at singing and just having the bottle to get up and do it - put the adults to shame! I dont usually enjoy karaokes but this one was quite fun. My mate Dazza P was there with his new (well new to me) girlfriend. he always gets the nice ones. Their night was cut short unfortunately by some clown who was waving his tie around on the dance floor and managed to hit her on the eye. Quality job there fella. Idiot.

Saturday night was a family party for a surprise 40th. Good night, quiet and they just wanted background music, and and early finish, which was fine all roads round with everybody. Spiced up the night a wee bit by playing party games with the kids which ended up a good laugh as we bullied some of the older kids to play.

Sunday was my friends Nicole`s daughters party (Happy birthday Katie). Was great, right up to when I switched on the amp and it decided to blow the fuse. So we had a 10 minute break with no noise as another amp was hurried along to us by the boss - who had just flown back from Saudi and was still in holiday mode. Party was quiet, kids had a laugh though, mother suitable stressed to the max, hoping for the end and 1 hour closer to a good drink. It was fine and went just like most kids parties - she needn`t have worried. More kids would have just stressed her more. On the good side I got to meet her pal Jacqueline - a lot nicer than her pics, so who knows where that`ll take us.

Bedtime soon - off to sunny (or snowy) Dundee tomorrow.

Usual Weekend of Madness

It always happens - the boss goes on holiday and the fan gets covered in brown stuff.

No sooner than he flew out, it all started to show up as a weekend of chaos.

The kids party I was meant to be doing on the Sunday got cancelled, and the friday night gig I was doing in Morgans also was cancelled as Rewind was on so I was not there, but the boss thought I was. Luckily I had a kids party 5:45 till 8 so it wasnt all bad. Spent the rest of Friday night out in the van picking up the other discos and fixing all the other problems - broken laptops, blown speakers - every nights a party night when the boss is away lol.

Saturday was a 21st, a disco karaoke. Went well but as with all usual 21st`s everybody leaves about 1130 to hit a nightclub, and that night was no exception.

Hopefully this coming weekend I will actually get all my gigs to play.

Its Like Christmas outside

Whoohoo - its snowing - get the scarf and mittens out!

Well ok - its not *that* heavy - yet - according to the all knowing weather folk its to get worse.

So - weekend - Friday was in Morgans - was quite a busy night and was ok but for obviously the usual minority who are intent on acting like cocks.

Some guy who was acting like said cock kept coming up to me and asking for songs - which were playable and so he got some of them on. Then near the end of the night he comes up and told me I played good music and he wanted to kiss me on the forehead! Err thanks mate, but shaking my hand would have done. He tries this of course right at the time theres a steward standing next to me, then as he`s grabbed by the steward, he decides to try and have a go at him and pull his tie. After being given a lecture on how to calm down, he disappears into the crowd.

Not for long though, as 2 minutes later, I look up, see a pint tumbler being raised aloft and casually flung at said nutter. Cue ensuing mini pub riot and and early finish.

Saturday afternoon was a kids party for one of the companies karaoke girls - it was her sons party. Good time was had by all - great bunch of kids and all of them well behaved (unlike next weeks party eh Fi lol). As per usual FAR FAR FAR too much food was made and most of it will prob still be getting used as playpieces for the next day or 2.

Saturday night was a 21st for a girl in West Kilbride, and also her sisters 20th. Was quite a good night and ran quite smoothly. Some older woman kept annoying me to play The Wonder Of You, right in the middle of the dancey stuff - which I was quite glad about when asked the girl how she wanted to end the night - RunRig being the obvious and usual choice. She vetoed the Elvis track so unfortunately I ran out of time to play it. Aww! lol

Sunday was a catch up on housework day - changed the bed, did the washing, hoovered, done the dishes, hung up washing, emptied the bins, cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen and all other wee bits and bobs i had to do. Something else was meant to be happening later, but didnt which upset me a bit, but more on that topic later, if it ever amounts to much.

Well, I am away to play in the snow before it melts.

What A Weekend!!

Friday night was very quiet - there was an engagement party in the Labour Club so assuming everybody went there - nobody even came into the pub till about 10.

Rachael and Charlene came in to an empty hall, and at least they stayed about 45 minutes for a wee dance and drink and kept me company lol. Got a txt from Fiona, who decided to go to Irvine (thanks Fi lol) - I did text her back asking if I could go too lol.

Early finish at 1115 which was good for a change, but boring night - made up for last weeks excitement I suppose.

Saturday night was a karaoke disco - a 60th birthday party. Not much hassle at that you would imagine.........

Without dotting the i`s and crossing the t`s ......

1 - The majority of the crowd (roughly 95% I`d say) at this 60th were all under 30
2 - It was a "bring your own bottle" instead of a bar so everybody got pissed quickly with copious amounts of alcohol
3 - Obviously manners were not a strongpoint - as I am trying to take a karaoke request from one person other people just barge in and demand their songs on next
4 - A few of the guests had swallowed a lot more than just alcohol. One guy was totally out of control and kept jumping up and down, bouncing around etc
5 - Early finish at about 1120 as big fight broke out in the street - ambulance and police called - no surprise there

Apparently there is an 18th booked for the same crowd in a fortnight - I`ll be erm, busy, that night.

A blonde, wanting to earn some money, decided to hire herself out as a handyman-type and started canvassing a wealthy neighborhood. She went to the front door of the first house and asked the owner if he had any jobs for her to do.

“Well, you can paint my porch. How much will you charge?”

The blonde said, “How about £50?” The man agreed and told her that the paint and ladders that she might need were in the garage. The man’s wife, inside the house, heard the conversation and said to her husband, “Does she realize that the porch goes all the way around the house?”
The man replied, “She should. She was standing on the porch.”

A short time later, the blonde came to the door to collect her money.
“You’re finished already?” he asked. “Yes,” the blonde answered, “and I had paint left over, so I gave it two coats. “Impressed, the man reached in his pocket for the £50. “And by the way,” the blonde added, “that’s not a porch, it’s a Ferrari.”

There was a boy praying at night and he says "God bless mommy, daddy, grampa, and good-bye uncle fred". And the next day uncle fred died tragically by getting hit by a mac
truck. So the next night at prayertime, the boy says "God bless mommy, daddy, and good-bye grampa". The next day, grampa was playing golf and was hit by lightning and then was drug out to the 18th hole and he died. The next night people were getting real worried. At prayertime, the boy says, "God bless mommy and good-bye daddy". Well, the next day the father was especially careful and when he got home, his wife was crying. He asked, "Honey, what's wrong?". She said, "The postman is lying dead on the front doorstep!".

Sunday Fun Day

Sunday is usually day of rest ........

Woke up pretty early as is the usual, and realised ive got housework to catch up on. So did a few washings, cleaned the kitchen, the bathroom, tidied up etc etc.

While doin the dishes I left the water running while I was cleaning my wok then filled the basin. Cue rather large banging noise from the boiler, followed by a jet of steam out the top like Thomas on a bad day!

Oops - so - switched it off and went to the phone. The guy came out to see it and of course it wouldnt act up for him at all, so he gave it a good check and seemed to think its ok. Touch wood its not done much more so just need to watch that in future.

Picked Scott up and went for a meal in Morris`s, as I hadn`t been out for my Birthday. As usual, Gordon did the business and we didnt even need puddings - we were both well and truly stuffed. Then down to Bar One for the Karaoke with Andy C. Quiet night all round, apart from my friend Kirsty coming in and being her loud and boysterious self. Shes so quiet when shes working in the Hydro.

Came home and started chatting to someone on Bebo / MSN who lives up the road. Chatted for hours, and meeting up tonight so who knows what will happen.

Karma

Back to Morgans tonight, and it was a relatively quiet affair for most of the night.

Then some guy comes in - wasted - and started giving me grief. He was asking for totally unsuitable music to be played and was one of these "not taking no for an answer" kinda folk.

After repeated shoutings at by the stewards and also the bar staff, he seemed to clam down.

End of the night and he started up again, then left of his own accord. Yay.

On leaving the bar and getting paid, I happened to glance at the CCTV and watched said idiot being beaten up by a few folk for shouting his mouth off. He ended up with a rather mashed up face, which was justly deservered I say.

What goes around comes around.

Ooft!!!

OK OK yeah I know - not done an update for a while.

Excuse is - today is my Birthday so I`m getting old and forgetfull :)

Anyways back to the blog. Last weeks fun and games ......

Friday was back in Morgans, which was novel as I have not been in there for a while. Scott wasnt working so took him and Robert along for company. A very weird crowd in (all bar Fiona of course, but more on her later!), and for once, stewards on the door! Was quite relieved to see one of the stewards was Louise, someone from my deep and distant past when I was DJ at Castle Wee Rock. not seen her in ages and was great to catch up on stuff, even though we were working.

Saturday night was in West Kilbride Golf Club, and a black tie affair, with their yearly party. Was a truly fantastic night spoiled only in part by a woman who sneered at me all the time at the start of the evening as I didnt have anybody dancing. It was the start of the night dear, you were still getting pissed! Needless to say, soon got her, and everybody else dancing, and truly turned out to be without doubt the best party I`ve done all year ;)

Anyways - I showed Fiona my blog and she now has decided to do one herself - link is on the right hand side above the Pacman :) Should be an interesting read when shes sober, and an even more interesting one when shes drunk ;) I do hope she has the willpower to keep it going as it will turn out to be better than reading the local paper for gossip ;)

Im away back to my complan and knitting.

21st`s - and how they should be done!

Last night was a 21st for Natalie, a friend of my friend Robyn.

Done many parties for the crowd that revolve around them both, be it 21st`s or just in pubs etc, so I knew that the night would be quite fun.

Natalie texts me the night before with her playlist, all new stuff and danc and R&B - good good.

Start of the party with chart and some dance and as per usual, nobodys drunk (Including Robyn, although she made up for that later poor girl - Thanks go to Megan for taking her home lol).

As usual, the "parents and other family" sat at the far end of the hall, as far away as could be from the disco.

I always like to mix the music up and play older stuff for the older crowd etc, but everybody was having a good time dancing to the new stuff so figured I would leave it till requested. Eventually the mother came up and I expected the usual "put on a few old ones". No. Instead I got "play more dance music, this is great".

What a turn up lol. The slowest / oldest song I played all night was Alice DJ - Better Off Alone, and the hardest dance track, which I was reluctant to play as its quite heavy, but as soon as it was on I could hear at least 5 people shout its name. Dyewiteness - Masterplan.

Also at the end the mother came up and couldnt believe we had finished. As she said "theres no houses nearby, lets make some noise" (the hall is a sports club in the middle of nowhere!).

An amazing night. Cant wait to do her 25th :)

PS - Natalie - u looked good as well ;) At least nobody danced like that guy in the Basebowl lol

Stolen Jokes

Stolen from a friends Bebo page but worthy nonetheless:

A recent study conducted by Glasgow University found that the average Scotsman walks about 900 miles a year.

Another study by the scottish Medical Association found that Scotsmen drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year.

This means, on average, Scotsmen get about 41 miles to the gallon.

Kind of makes you proud to be scottish!

Merry New Easter!

Happy Easter!!!

No? Well it soon will be - creme eggs are in the shops already!!

So - Happy 2009 to all you readers. Hopefully it will be better than 2008 in many ways, financially more than anything.

Hogmany party in the Cotton Mill was on a usual par of excellence. A few unhappy punters with the restaurant purely as they couldnt cook food fast enough for the gannets to eat. The kitchen staff were run off their feet but yet the customers were moaning. Wheres the season of goodwill - these folk are working on Hogmany (myself included) just so you have a good enjoyable night.

Once I got set up and started the party kicked into full swing, with a packed floor all night. One woman almost walked out when she heard me say last orders was at 1145, to allow the bar staff time to get a drink. She did chirp up however when I informed her the bar reopened at 1215 lol.

Finished at 1, then headed to the Bar One to pick up Scott, who had a mobbed night in the bar till 12 when everybody sodded off to the Metro. Even Lee though the back had the same problem. I dunno what it is about the magnetism of the Metro. All it needs is sawdust on the floor and it truly can be classed a cattle market.

So - what will 2009 bring? I have no idea. Just go along for the ride and find out :)
